    Dwarf Water Lettuce (
    Pistia Stratiotes
    )
    Each order contains 12+ Dwarf Water Lettuce plus a bonus mystery plant!
    Our Dwarf Water Lettuce are completely snail and pest free. Plant leaf size ranges from a dime to a half-dollar. Our Dwarf Water Lettuces are grown in slow moving, nutrient rich nurseries. Given clean water conditions, our Dwarf Water Lettuces have been proven to quickly multiply in your aquariums or ponds.
    Dwarf Water Lettuces, with their long feathery roots, are exceptionally good at reducing algae, and detoxifying harmful Nitrates and Ammonia. They are very quickly multiplying. This is due to their ability to feed directly off the water column.
    Many aquarists and pond users use these plants to help reduce both soft and hard algae in unbalanced tanks.

    The Dwarf Water Lettuce is a double-sided plant for both the aquarium and the pond. It is known to be both instrumental as well as aesthetic at the same time. It not only helps in fighting algal bloom in the given environment, but it also helps in accentuating the overall décor of any given environment in which it is placed. It is popular among shrimp keepers as well since the long roots drape into the aquarium and provide plenty of coverage and bio film to the shrimp. Its also a fast growing plant that can absorb nitrates making it suitable for tanks with inhabitants that are sensitive to water parameters.
    Pistia is a very rapid grower that needs to be managed if you don’t want the plant to overrun your aquarium. Take care not to allow the plants to completely cover the water surface by pinching off any plantlets or removing individual plants each week to keep a small gap between each one.
    If the roots are allowed to reach the floor of the aquarium, they can get tangled in other plants or tank decorations. To keep root growth under control, remove the plants every two or three weeks and cut the roots, leaving about four inches of root remaining. Don’t worry; the plants will recover quickly and will come to no harm.
    Note that, if the plants are dragged underneath the surface, they will die off.
