1622 ATOCHA SHIPWRECK FRANKLIN MINT MEDAL LAYERED IN GENUINE ATOCHA SILVER

PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE BUYING! 1622 ATOCHA SHIPWRECK FRANKLIN MINT MEDAL LAYERED IN GENUINE ATOCHA SILVER. Medal is of modern manufacture, the 1622 date represents the year of the Atocha ship's sinking, and is the year the silver layered on the outside of this medal sank to the bottom of the sea. The medal has a core of some base metal ( the Franklin Mint never revealed what it was) but the medal has a nice weight and feel. The core was then layered in silver they melted down,  that was purchased from the salvor's of the wreck. Often times this would be from silver bar fragments, bits of heavily corroded coins etc. but none the less genuine Atocha silver. Overall a cheap price to pay for something from the ship. The coin capsule is included and measures about 1 3/4 inches so the medal inside is a little smaller, beautiful proof like finish.   ANA life member with perfect feedback rating.
