Description
What we have here is a complete and operating American Flyer No. 718 New Haven style mail pick-up passenger car in red plastic. This car has has the two link couplers with the brass weights so easy to date this one to 1948. This car has no breaks and no cracks and no missing plastic. However, it does have some scuffing so the best I can grade this unit at is C-6. This sale also includes the mail pick-up stand as well as the correct original button for a 1948 mail pick-up as well as two reproduction mail bags. The upright staff on the mail stand appears to have been repainted flat black, but looks good. This car did work which means that it should pick-up the mail bag about 75 to 80 percent of the time. That is about the best you can hope for on this cute little accessory. Both link couplers move easily. The car has strong lettering. This would be great car to add to your lay-out or collection which we are all getting some extra time with this train season to play with. Overall, I'll grade this lot at C-6 overall. The pictures tell a lot of the story here. Don't let this grouping get away. Have fun bidding on this item. WMF.As with all Ebay sales by Farner's Flyer, there is a low starting bid and no reserve. This item will sell. The present seller has been a TCA member since 1980.

During the season I do various trains shows in the Midwest including the monthly Great Midwest Train Show at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Chicago as well as the two TCA Shows in York, PA along with some Great Train Shows. If you feel that our paths are going to cross at one of these shows and you want the trains hand-delivered that would be fine to help you save on postage.
