    Offered for Sale, an Enlarged Photo of an A.E.G. B.I (Allgemeine Elektricitäts Gesellschaft) 2-Seat Reconnaissance Biplane, Rare Prototype Z6a, from 1914.
    This gorgeous photo reproduction would make a great addition to any WW I Aircraft Collection!
    The print has been painstakingly restored, carefully enlarged, and reproduced from the original photograph (measuring only 127 mm x 91 mm). The enlarged reproduction is beautifully printed on 8.5" x 11" premium gloss photo paper. The toned black and white image itself, measures 180 mm (7.09") tall x 254 mm (10.00") wide, and is suitable for matting and framing.
    The print you receive will not have the overlay "The Wizard's Hold" eBay Store logo that's displayed in the photos.
    The first photo shows the actual 8.5" x 11" page. The second photo demonstrates how the print might appear when matted with a standard 8" x 10" cut-out mat board.

    The A.E.G. B.I
    was an unarmed reconnaissance and observation 2-seat biplane. It was designed in 1914 using a method of construction that would become the standard for A.E.G. aircraft. The main structure was made of welded steel tubes. Each wing had two steel tube spars, with wooden ribs to give the wings aerodynamic shape. The framework was covered with fabric. Both wings had some dihedral, and the upper wingspan was larger than the lower; similar to the early
    Series 22 Albatros B.I.
    This very early design, used the rear cockpit as the pilot seat, and the front as the observer seat. In actual use, it was quickly discovered this arrangement left the pilot too exposed and vulnerable, and later versions moved the pilot seat to the front, and the observer seat to t
    he rear.

    This two-seater was used in small numbers for unarmed reconnaissance work during 1914. Its design was equpped with a tailskid, and a nose wheel mounted just in front of the main wheels, to help protect the propeller from damage during bad landings.

    100hp Mercedes D.I in-line engine, mounted with most of the engine exposed above the fuselage (a feature that would be repeated on most later A.E.G. designs). Cooling radiators were mounted on each side of the fuselage.
