If you're interested in adding macro algae to your reef aquarium but don't know which varieties to choose, this package is a good way to get started.
This package contains slow growing, non-invasive ornamental varieties that are perfect for most reef aquariums. We use macro algae extensively in all of our tanks because of its beauty and nutrient uptake.
If you are not using algae to eliminate your nitrates and phosphates you are missing out.  In many fish only systems, keeping algae will allow the aquarist to almost eliminate the need for water changes altogether.  Also, many aquarists don't know it but macro algae actually use all of the toxins that we must watch so carefully in our aquariums
.  Ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and phosphates are used by algae as fertilizer and are removed from the water to make for happier fish.
Care should be taken when using large quantities of algae for nutrient uptake.  The algae will cause a large oxygen and PH swing at night because at night the plants actually use oxygen instead of producing it, thereby greatly decreasing the level of available oxygen for the fish in your tank.  24 hour lights over the algae or the use of additional aeration equipment are two methods that are commonly used to avoid this problem.  Please also make sure to remove any dead or sick algae from your aquarium as soon as possible because the decaying algae is very harmful for your fish just like decaying food that is left uneaten.
These are warm water algae that won't shock from typical saltwater aquarium temps!

Other species may be from cold water climates and will not acclimate to average tropical saltwater temps.
Basic care.. Simply float the unopened bag containing your new algae in the tank for about 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow the temperatures to match up.  Then place the algae in your tank.  All of the species in this package
will not attach themselves to rocks or substrate.  Please use rubber bands, glue rocks or a similar means to hold the algae in place.
Trim your algae periodically to directly remove the absorbed toxins from your water or use it as food for your herbivore fish.

placing the algae in an improper location
or
leaving the macro algae or corals in the mail box too long or any other issue that the customer has power to control
This guarantee covers the original item only and a replacement or refund for the original purchased item is the customer's sole coverage under this guarantee.  We can not be responsible for any other losses or expenses whether consequential or incidental.
*  Brown, dead or rotted spots may show up after your algae arrives to you but these are only temporary and your product will quickly recover under good aquarium conditions.  These spots after shipping are stress related and do not mean that your algae or corals are dead.  We do our best to package all of our live products and these issues are a bit rare but they should be considered normal and expected when receiving live plants and corals in the mail.
