    Description

    The
attractive replica medal is the German Imperial / Prussian
Grand Cross of the Iron Cross.  It was originally intended for Prussian generals
    as
the highest grade of the Iron Cross.
Along with the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class, the Grand Cross was established on
    March 10, 1813
, during the Napoleonic Wars.  It was renewed in 1870 again in 1914 for the First World War.
My replica measures just over 6 centimeters across and weighs 48 grams (1.7 oz.).
It comes with 12 inches (unfinished ends) of the appropriate 55 mm (width) black and white Prussian / German Imperial “war ribbon.” As you can see, the finish on this medal is excellent, allowing the full detail of the inscriptions to be easily seen.
This is the Word War One (1914) version of the medal.
