Description

The Military Merit Order (
Militärverdienstorden)
of the Duchy of
Württemberg was established in 1759 and renamed the Militärverdienstorden in 1806 by King Friedrich I.
This is the Knight's Cross (
Ritterkreuz
) grade of the medal.
It is a two-sided medal with a wreath around the medallion on the front and the monogram of King Frederick I in the medallion on the reverse.  It was awarded for bravery and meritorious acts.  The motto of the order was "fearless and loyal."
My replica medal (two-sided) is mounted on a post-war 25 mm ribbon.
