    Description

    The Military Merit Cross was awarded by the northern German Grand Duchy of
    Mecklenburg-Schwerin
    .
    It was established in 1848 and awarded in two grades: 2
    nd
    Class and 1st Class.
    This is a beautifully-detailed replica of a 1914
    Mecklenburg
    -
    Schwerin
    Military Merit Cross First Class.
    The finish is smooth gilt style, not pebbled.
    It has the initials “FF” (for Friedrich Franz) inscribed in the center of the cross and, a raised royal crown on the top arm.
    My replica is vaulted and has a functional pin (flat) and catch mechanism.
    It measures 41 x 41 mm and weighs 12 grams.
