Nymphaea Capensis is native to South Africa Madagascar and is also known as Nymphaea Nouchali var. Cerulea, N. Calliantha, N. Mildbraedii, N. Spectabilis, and Cape Blue Water-Lily.
The large, graceful blue Capensis flowers are held high above the water on the tip of a sturdy green stem. This plant blooms repeatedly from mid-spring to early fall. The flowers have up to 30 petals, about 5 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. In the center of the flower are numerous bright golden yellow stamens with blue tips and green sepals. They have a sweet aroma and are very pungent.
