    Description

For auction is a very nice piece of Arts and Crafts art pottery made by Marblehead Pottery of Marblehead, Mass. This piece of art pottery is called a "Tapered Swollen Form" vase. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 5 5/16" tall and is 3 1/2" in diameter at its widest shoulder area. The foot has a diameter of 2 3/16".
This vase displays a tapered swollen form. It is covered in a smooth speckled Indigo blue glaze. This is also known as the infamous "Marblehead Blue" glaze. This is such a pleasing matt blue glaze and I can see why it was so popular during the day. The inside displays a lighter matt Robins egg blue waterproofing glaze. The two tones of blue look outstanding together.
The vase is considered to be excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is solid and has good eight for its size. The vase is signed with the impressed ship mark along with the letters M & P impressed on each side of the ship for the maker "Marblehead Pottery". Those of you who collect Marblehead Pottery and want a very nice example of this form in this size will surely welcome it into their collection. This vase would look just outstanding in or on that Stickley, mission style arts and crafts bookcase.
This piece was made circa 1904-1915.
Marblehead Pottery was established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a Studio Art Pottery in Marblehead, Massachusetts using the art and technique of ceramics manufacturing and decorating as a rehabilitation and therapeutic aid to local sanitarium patients at Hall's Devereux Mansion Sanitarium. Marblehead Pottery stopped producing Art Pottery in 1936. Marblehead Pottery was a small Pottery Company never employing more than 6 workers. Their Pottery is considered somewhat scare as compared to their Contemporaries of the day.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July of this year 2020.
I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments
. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the
    merchandise
    unless it is paid for.
    They are also n
ow charging all sellers a commission of 11.7% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 11.7%. This is an increase of 8.8% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 11.7% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
