Description

Vintage CHAPIN STEPHENS 79 1/2 Boxwood & Brass Folding Rule - Board Scale Tables
This is a vintage 24"
CHAPIN STEPHENS CO. - PINE MEADOW, CONN. U.S.A. No. 79 1/2
four-fold boxwood and brass folding rule with square joint.    Plus, this example is graduated with
Lumber Board Scale Tables
on both sides.  These tables were used for calculating the amount of board feet in sawn timber.  It even has graduations on the outside and inside edges of the rule.  I rate this ruler in
GOOD - CONDITION
overall.  It does not have any alignment pins in place, but still folds up aligned.  This rule has been lightly cleaned and is ready for display.  The main flaw is that there is a hairline on one of the legs, which does not go through to the other side.  The numbers and markings are clear and easy to read.   Inside retains some of the original finish.   An uncommon example of a vintage folding rule with board scales for you to add to your antique measuring tool collection!
If you have any questions regarding this item, please ask me prior to bidding. In the next few weeks, I will be selling folding rules made by Stanley, Lufkin, H. Chapin, Stephens, Rabone, Upson Nut, and others, so if you like folding rulers, please take a second to take a look at my other auctions.
Thanks For Your Interest & Good Luck!!!
